Satin finish on glass ball
The glass ball is made from screened cullet in the heat flow of a melting furnace.
Glass beads are a gentle blasting agent that is often used to clean and mattify soft materials such as aluminum or brass. On the other hand, they also give stainless steel a beautiful satin finish and remove discoloration caused by welding. Glass beads are also excellent for blasting engine parts and other more delicate parts.
Glass beads are also used as a reflective component in road marking paints, among other things.
The glass ball can be recycled several times in cabinet blowing, as long as the blowing pressure is kept below 3 bar.
Working pressure: 2–3 bar. At higher pressure, the ball shape breaks and the powder quickly turns into dust.
Glass beads are manufactured in several different sizes, the most commonly used sizes being:
(100 µm=0,1 mm)
150–250 µm
200–300 µm
300–400 µm.
There are also rarer sizes available:
70–110 µm
90–150 µm
100–200 µm
425–850 µm.
Glass beads are delivered in 25 kg bags or full 1000 kg (40 bags) pallets.
