Brown and white aluminas
Blastjet Oy sells and supplies aluminum oxides and other blasting materials. Our range covers both brown and white aluminum oxides.

Alumina for a rougher surface
Alumina is produced from bauxite by combining the ground ore with lime and caustic soda, then pumping the mixture into high-pressure tanks and heating it. The alumina is dissolved in the caustic soda, which is then precipitated from the solution, washed and heated to dryness.
Alumina comes in both white (WFA, EK) and brown (BFA, NK). White is nearly pure, 99.81% alumina. Brown is 95.2% alumina and contains a small amount of titanium oxide. Brown is also cheaper and the most commonly used.
Aluminum oxide is a very hard and sharp-edged grain. Aluminum oxide is used for blasting when you want to effectively remove solid dirt (oxidation, paint scale). It is suitable for roughening, for example, black steel and stainless steel and aluminum. Aluminum oxide makes the surface rough and creates an excellent base for the durability of paint and other coatings. Fine aluminum oxide is also used, for example, for matting glass, for roughening art glass and shiny surfaces to be painted instead of sanding.
Alumina can be recycled several times in cabinet blasting, as long as the blasting pressure is kept below 5 bar.
Working pressure: 2–5 bar. When the blowing pressure exceeds 5 bar, the granule breaks down into dust more quickly, of course depending on the hardness of the object being blown.
Aluminum oxide is available in about 20 different grain sizes, the most common sizes for cleaning and roughening are:
F20 0,85–1,2 mm
F24 0,6–0,85 mm
F36 0,43–0,6 mm
F46 0,3–0,43 mm.
For example, grain sizes suitable for matting glass include:
F90 0,13–0,18 mm
F120 0,09–0,13 mm
F180 0,05–0,09 mm.
Alumina is supplied in 25 kg bags or full pallets of 1000 kg (40 bags).
